The delivery purchase price of Swedish logs remained unchanged in the second quarter of 2021, but increased in the third quarter of 2021. Compared with the previous quarter, sawn timber prices increased by 2.1% and pulp timber prices increased by 0.9%. However, as reported by the Swedish forest service, there are regional differences across the country.

In the third quarter of 2021, log prices in the northern region increased by 6.3%. This is the first price rise in the region in two years. The purchase price of sawn timber delivery in the central region also rose, up 3.5%, while that in the southern region was basically flat, up slightly by 0.5%.

Pulp prices in the northern region also rose 3.2%, the first increase in the region in a year. The southern region had the largest increase of 3.8%, while the central region decreased slightly by 0.5%.

If the focus is shifted to comparison with the same quarter of last year, the development will be different.

Saw wood prices in Sweden rose 13%, the largest increase since the third quarter of 2014. From a regional perspective, the southern region rose 16.7%, the central region rose 12.8%, and the northern region rose 3.5%.
